Portfolio Project - Cutting and Pasting

Cutting

These are the last few days of my project and I am excited to finish it up. I have everything cut and edited and found the process went very well I see the story coming together.  The only thing I don't like is how it is too montagy and it feels like I am watching a highlight clip instead of a film. I like the way it looks I just need to be more intentional with the way I am cutting it. These are the last few parts of my project so I want to make sure my time is going towards the right place. Here are the things I want to do within the next few days.

- Finish cutting

- Color correct

- Export

Here is what the project looks like right now.

As you can see I have the videos stretched out so I can mess with the audio and see it. This way I can do more editing and it looks cleaner. Overall, I am excited to finish my project and the next step is the CCR. In my next blog post I will show the script and how I intend on creating the ccr and how it relates to my overall project.

Portfolio Project - Planning CCR

 My CCR Plan

The critical reflection of my film intro is an important part of my project and takes a lot of my grade. Something that makes it important to me personally is that it is truly a reflection of me as a filmmaker. I estimate that it will take a lot of time so i want to truly dedicate a week to filming this video. The best situation for me is that I take time to truly reflect which is why I have already started with a script. By creating a script I can get rid of "head talk" which is ultimately a form of unpreparedness.

For my Creative critical reflection, I want to do something that revolves around the Jimmy Kimmel special Celebrities read Mean Tweets. Within Jimmy Kimmel's segment he finds a way to make it informative yet entertaining which is exactly what I want to do. I think it would be a creative way to create a critical reflection while also poking a little bit of fun at myself. I think this will make me standout and be unique while also allowing me to answer questions. So for example I could read a tweet that says "this looks so bad. Was it filmed on a potato?" thus, it would allow me to really answer the question and talk about the hardware and software that I used throughout the project. Other questions like the production process could also be answered so I think it is a smart play on my end and Cambridge will like it because at the end of the day it is called a "CREATIVE critical reflection".

Portfolio Project - Updates

Editing and more

I am currently editing everything right now and color correcting and can I just give myself a pat on the back because I think I did a really good job so far. I was really able to use my knowledge of the class and bring it to life. I even used a lot of the representation tricks that we saw in the visual analysis essays to help create my character. My friend Kevin did a great job with the acting, he was already a basketball player but I loved how he really started to connect with the character like I do.

Tunnel Vision is something that I think holds more value because it is so exclusive to children. From a young age there is a lot that out parent look to us for and put a lot of pressure on us. This reminds me of the Turning Red movie Pixar just came out with about a girl to is growing up and turns into a fox which is just a metaphor for puberty. Similarly to this, our main protagonist is struggling with trying to be perfect at such a young age when imperection is all that is present. I like to think that what I'm making is much more than just a project but a real message

Here is the first look at 'Tunnel Vision' a Chocolate Muffins production.

Much more to come!!!!

Portfolio Project - Post Production Plan

 Working in Post

I am now in the post-production stage of my film intro 'Tunnel Vision'. My plan is to be finished editing before the end of spring break or at least cut it by the end of the break and do a little tweaking when we get back. Hopefully, all the planning and preparation will be enough as I spent hours trying to perfect every scene and make it memorable. I kept in mind the idea of 2+2 instead of the instant gratification of 4 so as I begin to edit I will continue to make that a central theme.

The plan.

- Sort through footage. See what I like and don't like to add to the project
-  Piece together
- Add any text or effects
- Color correction...this will take the longest since I shot everything in such flat colors

My biggest fear is making something that will be more of a montage than a film intro, I want things to be cohesive and make sense which is why the storyboarding process of this was so important. I kept organized (mostly) and that will show throughout the production process. I will keep updating as I finish my production but this is a great start and I'm excited to start on the second part of this project. I want to put my all into this and hopefully, that will be conveyed throughout the film (and in my grade tehe @tstock ;P )

Portfolio Project - Filming Day

Filming 'Tunnel Vision'

I filmed my film intro today and things went as planned. We got a lot done and were able to open the Cypress Bay gym and shoot while we were there. I shot on my trusty Sony a6600 and filmed in S-log3 so I could get flatter tones for my color correction process. The day started as I picked up my actor (Kevin Pazmino) before we headed out we shot a few of the scenes inside of his bedroom to get the "day in the life" feel. It was great to be in the space of an athlete and I was able to get lots of shot of his trophy and jersey and much more.

I haven't started the post-production process but here is a clip from an unedited portion of my intro.

This depicts one of the final scenes and I am very happy about how it came out.

Something that I would love to convey throughout the piece is the sense of commitment. Although our main subject is constantly faced with different problems throughout his life and the film he still remianis faithful to his passion at whatever the cost. This beautiful relationship between man and craft is an age old tale that people can relate with. However, the question is, what will one do for that craft and to what extent? Is he willing to give it all up?...there's only one way to find out. This sense of suspense is something that I will develop throughout the intro and real film.
